KANSAS CITY, Mo - At least six Kansas City-area gas stations were not selling regular or mid-grade fuel Sunday night or Monday morning.

The stations – five in Johnson County, Kan., and one in Kansas City, Mo. - all appeared to be Phillips 66 locations.

"These locations are owned and operated by a 3rd party operator," Phillips 66 Financial Communications Specialist Alissa Hicks said in an email to 41 Action News. "Due to financial difficulties, the owner has chosen to temporarily close the sites. We are working diligently towards a solution. Consumers may visit a number of other Phillips 66 stations in the area, which can be found by visiting www.Phillips66gas.com or by contacting Phillips 66 Consumer services desk at www.cservice@p66.com or 1-800-527-5476."

41 Action News has verified either by phone or in person no regular or mid-grade gas was being sold at the following stations:

In Kansas

Conoco/Circle K: 119th & Blackbob - 15115 W 119th St, Olathe
Phillips 66: 151st & Blackbob – 15065 W. 151st Street, Olathe
Phillips 66/Circle K: 151st & Antioch - 8150 W. 151st Street, Overland Park
Phillips 66/Circle K: 67th & I-35 - 9500 W 67th Street, Merriam
Phillips 66/Circle K: 87th and Loriet – 15855 West 87th Street Parkway, Lenexa
Phillips 66/Shell: 75th and Metcalf – 7427 Metcalf Avenue

In Missouri

Phillips 66: 75th and State Line – 7447 State Line Road, Kansas City.

On Monday morning, viewers were posting other stations that had stopped selling gas on facebook.com/kshbtv . 41 Action News has not verified those stations.

The Phillips 66 corporate office announced on Sunday it was shutting down its 247,000 barrel-per-day refinery in Bell Chasse, La., so its employees could evacuate their families from Tropical Storm Isaac as it approaches the Gulf Coast.

The U.S. Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, which oversees offshore oil production, said Sunday that nearly 25% of the current daily oil production in the Gulf of Mexico has been shut, with nearly 50 rigs and oil platforms already evacuated in advance of the storm. In addition, more than 8% of natural gas production in the Gulf has also been halted.
