KANSAS CITY, Mo. - One of Kansas City’s most well-known businessman has died.

Cecil Van Tuyl passed away Tuesday in Kansas City. He was 85.

Van Tuyl was the founder and owner of the Van Tuyl Group, the nation’s largest privately-owned auto dealership group.

He started his new car sales business in 1955 after enjoying success in the use car business.

Cecil Van Tuyl and wife Ruby were married 64 years.
