KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A 57-year veteran of the Kansas City Fire Department was laid to rest on Friday.
Family and friends paid their final respects to 85-year-old Bert Holmberg. Holmberg died last Sunday.
Born in Kansas City, Holmberg retired from the fire department in 1977. But he got bored and rejoined as a fire inspector and then a dispatcher.
“He's a fireman to the max. I grew up chasing fire trucks with him,” his daughter Sue Holmberg said.
Holmberg was buried at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
