KANSAS CITY, Mo. - It will be tough getting around parts of Kansas City Saturday when runners take over the streets for the Kansas City Marathon.

The closures will run between 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. between 11th and 75th streets, according to a news release from the city.

The marathon begins around 7 a.m. at Grand Boulevard and Pershing Road and winds through 26 miles of city streets.

Police officers will close and open streets as the runners move through the course.

City officials said motorists who want to move across the city on the west side of the marathon should use Broadway Boulevard, Southwest Trafficway or Interstate 35, according to the news release.

Travelers on the east side of the course should use the Bruce R. Watkins Drive.
