KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City's self-proclaimed crime fighter will now have to appear in court for Shon Pernice's murder trial.
Alonzo Washington was asked to go to the Clay County courthouse on Friday morning for a deposition.
Washington said he was asked during his 45-minute question and answer session with the Clay County prosecutor and Shon Pernice's attorney about a 2009 taped telephone conversation he had with Shon.
"He called me. He told me he read my blog, and we just talked about some things I was noticing about the investigation," Washington said.
Shon Pernice faces a first-degree murder charge in the 2009 disappearance of his wife, Renee Pernice.
Renee, 35, disappeared from the couple's Northland home that they shared with their two sons. As of the original publication of this report, she has not been found.
After his deposition, Washington received a subpoena from the prosecution to testify in Pernice's upcoming criminal trial.
Washington says on his blog that any telephone conversation he has with tipsters is subject to recording, but he admits he did not tell Shon Pernice he was recording their conversation. Washington believes his taped conversation with Shon Pernice will be used in court.
Shon Pernice's criminal trial is scheduled to start on Feb. 27.
A motions hearing was held in the murder trial on Friday, Feb. 10. The defense attorney wants to suppress suppress two pieces of evidence. The evidence collected through the GPS tracker that was attached to Pernice's vehicle and his cellphone information.
The motions hearing was continued until Wednesday, Feb. 15.
