KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Irish dance community in Kansas City, Mo., is lending a hand to a family recovering from the Boston Marathon explosion.
Hundreds of people showed up to the "Dance Out For Jane" event Friday night, to help raise money for the Richard family.
Six-year-old Jane Richard is an Irish dancer in Milton, Mass. She lost her leg in the recent terror attacks.
Her mother also had to have surgery from a brain injury, and her 8-year-old brother Martin lost his life in the explosion.
"All these people are coming together for this family that they've never met. The Irish dancing community -- we're very tight-knit. We may be very competitive at our competitions, but when something happens to one of our own, we take care of them," said organizer Erinn Lewis.
Several other dance communities from across the country are participating in the fundraiser.
