KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A Kansas City police department employee died in a car accident near 66th Street and Troost Avenue shortly after leaving work early Saturday morning.
Police said crime scene technician Ying-An (Michael) Chou, 29, was killed in the crash. He had been an employee of the Kansas City Police Department for two years. Chou was leaving the department's crime lab when a driver of a black car slammed into his car. The impact of the crash split his car apart.
KCPD says the driver of the second car took off on foot after the crash around 3 a.m. Officers caught up with that person and took him into custody. Police are looking for a possible passenger from the second car.
The investigation into the crash is still underway. Investigators from Johnson County were called in to help with the investigation.
