KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Kansas City Police Department is looking to build its relationships with the Spanish-speaking community.
Tuesday night, patrol officers conducted a Spanish roll call at the La Flor De Chiapas Mexican Restaurant, on the 3200 block of Independence Ave.
Officers said the event benefits both the police department and Spanish speaking residents.
"People who are new to this country are scared to call 911. They don't know what will happen. They don't know what will be asked. They don't know if they'll be deported as soon as they call. So this way, they have a safe place to ask their questions," said Sgt. Jennifer Jones.
Officers say they've received multiple tips at these roll calls that have helped them solve several cases.
