TONGANOXIE, Kan. - Crews spent Tuesday afternoon battling two grass fires in Leavenworth County, Kan., near Tonganoxie.

Leavenworth County Fire District No. 1 said the fire just north of US Highway 24/40, east of Tongonoxie, was nearly 50 acres in size. Authorities say the dry conditions caused sparks from a tractor hitting a rock to start the blaze.

The second fire was about six to seven acres between 218th and 222nd streets. That fire destroyed one mobile home. Authorities blame careless smoking for the incident.

Authorities said no one was injured in either fire.
