KANSAS CITY, Mo. - It’s time to start thinking about buying back-to-school supplies and on Saturday morning, a Kansas City, Mo., church helped families in need by giving supplies away for free.
Organizers at the Calvary Temple Baptist Church say the supplies went fast.
They also say they helped more than 100 families on Saturday who were all thrilled to have help with the back-to-school expenses.
“There are just so many families who are struggling during these times, the more that we can do to relive some of that pressure as a church, we feel likes it’s our responsibility to assist the community," volunteer Brenda Williams said.
The church says they now plan to make this an annual event.
