KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A man who collapsed at local 5K run in early August has died.
Dr. Frank Ise, chief medical officer of the Kansas City Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS), died Aug. 6, according to a statement from MEPS.
Ise collapsed before crossing the finish line of the Spencer Duncan Make It Count 5K memorial walk/run.
"He ran that event because he believed in it, because he loved to run, and because he would never in his life back down from a challenge,” Ise’s son Greg said in a written statement. “And be assured that when the event is held next year, I will return and run it in my father's place."
