KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Mayor Sly James plans to hold a day of honor in memory of a popular television meteorologist who died last week.

Saturday, Dec. 17 will be Don Harman Day in Kansas City.

Harman, 41, was found dead in his south Kansas City home last week.  Police ruled his death a suicide.  Family and friends later discussed Harman’s ongoing battle with depression.

James hopes the day of honor will bring attention to depression and encourage people in need to get help.

A public memorial service will be held the same day, Saturday, Dec. 17 at 8 a.m., in the Grand Hall at Union Station.

Harman worked at Fox 4 News for 12 years.  He leaves behind a wife and daughter.
