Metro roads slick following quick shot of snow, several accidents reported

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - UPDATE 10:25PM | Salt crews from KDOT and MoDOT have been called in to help treat metro interstates on both sides of the stateline.

Crews in Lee's Summit and Overland Park are also out treating roadways.

Lee's Summit Police was working a non-injury crash in the southbound lanes of Interstate 470 at Woods Chapel Road.

Though the number of crashes continue to pile up, police continue to report no serious injuries.

EARLIER | Area law enforcement agencies reported numerous crashes and slide-offs Friday night following a quick burst of snow.

As of just before 10 p.m., Kansas City, Mo., police reported crashes on northbound Interstate 35 north of the Christopher S. Bond Bridge, on westbound Interstate 70 at Interstate 35 on the northeast corner of the downtown loop and on the Manchester Bridge on I-70.

There were no reports of any serious injuries.

On the other side of the state line, the Kansas Turnpike reported slick conditions on I-70 between Lawrence and Kansas City and on I-35 between Kansas City and Emporia.

Turnpike authorities said the westbound lanes of the turnpike near the eastern pay toll near Bonner Springs was at a standstill due to ice and numerous crashes.
