Police were called to I-70 near Pittman Road around 6:45 p.m. on a reported seven vehicle crash. Around 7 p.m., KCMO Fire spokesman Joe Vitale said 13 vehicles were involved in the crash.

Early reports state that 13 vehicles were involved in four different crashes on eastbound I-70 at Pittman, near Arrowhead and Kauffman stadiums. Another six or seven vehicles were involved in crashes in the westbound lanes.

Westbound I-70 was shut down before Blue Ridge Cutoff, while an eastbound lane was closed before Sterling Avenue.

According to Vitale, four people were taken to area hospitals with minor injuries.

No serious injuries have been reported.

Earlier on Thursday, two semi trucks crashed on northbound I-35 near Ottawa, closing one lane of traffic. The Kansas State Highway Patrol did not release the extent of injuries.
