KANSAS CITY, Missouri - A new educational program will help people around the world experience the National World War I Museum at Liberty Memorial.
With the new online program -- teachers won't have to plan field trips to access the museum's resources.
The new program, to be named the Regnier Distance Learning Program, will allow the museum to broadcast live, real-time presentations, lectures and courses through the Internet.
"It's important that we take this conflict almost 100 years old and reach out to students and adult learners and let them not only remember and honor the people who served but learn those lessons of history so we can understand how the world was shaped as it is today,” said Denise Rendina, spokeswoman for the National World War I Museum.
With the $200,000 dollar gift from the Regnier Family Foundation, the museum can hire more staff and purchase the technology needed to reach a wider audience.
