KANSAS CITY, Mo. - It is the biggest one-day music festival in the country, and it filled Penn Valley Park near downtown Kansas City Saturday.
Organizers estimated that nearly 55,000 people attended the 21st annual Rockfest
Twelve bands rocked out on two stages until almost midnight Saturday, including Papa Roach, Seether and Alice in Chains.
98.9 The Rock's DJ Johnny Dare said some of the rockers actually got a rock during the concert, as hundreds of people decided to hold their weddings in the middle of the heavy-metal music.
"I talked to a kid from Texas today," Dare said, "he flew back in for Rockfest. Some guys moved their graduation parties to make sure that they were here for Rockfest. People are getting married today. We've got 147 marriages being performed today."
The music ended with fireworks.
