KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Neighbors gathered in Kansas City Wednesday night in support of the 10-year-old girl found locked in a closet.
Kansas City Police found the girl, weighing just 32 pounds, Friday afternoon.
As of Wednesday night, she is still in a Kansas City hospital, and neighbors wanted to pray for her.
They also wanted people to focus on her rescue and the possibilities for her future.
"I don't want my mothers, I don't want my sisters, or anyone else to be in mourning because they think there was something they could have done,” prayer organizer Randall Gilmore Sr. said. “Because we don't know what goes on behind closed doors and only God knows the heart of man."
The girl's mom, Jacole Prince, pleaded not guilty to child abuse charges.
