INDEPENDENCE, Missouri - Motorists traveling along eastbound Highway 24 in Independence how have a reminder of the dangers of drunk driving.

Last Halloween, 16-year-old Laura Reynolds was killed on Highway 24 between Davis Road and Blue Mills Road in Independence by a drunk driver.

On Tuesday, the Missouri Department of Transportation put up a sign honoring Reynolds and reminding drivers about drunk driving.

"Drinking and then choosing to drive is a decision that tragically takes lives," said Beth Wright, MoDOT District Engineer, in a release. "This new sign recalls the loss of a vibrant Fort Osage High School junior, while raising awareness of the dangers of impaired driving."
