KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Kansas City, Mo., firefighters now have new tools to help save lives.
One new tool: straps that help them carry the heavy water hoses. The other is an ax that replaces three other tools.
Firefighters use these tools to force their way through burning buildings.
"It saves time," KCFD firefighter John Duffy said. "We're carrying less weight; you save 68 pounds when you're carrying above 100 pounds of equipment. Every little bit helps."
The Hays Company of Kansas City sponsored a grant to help buy the new equipment.
