OAK GROVE, Missouri - An Oak Grove family is faced with the possibility their daughter may never walk again.

On Jan. 13, Taylor Hartwig went sledding at a park in Oak Grove with her little brother and father. While sledding down a hill, Taylor hit a tree.

“She hollered up and said, daddy, I can't feel my legs. So he went down to her and she couldn't move” said Shelly Hartwig, Taylor's mother.

Doctors said it’s too early to determine whether Taylor will ever walk again.

Oak Grove Middle School students and faculty are in the process of organizing several fundraisers to help the family with mounting medical expenses.

“We're looking forward to getting Taylor back in the building and helping out her family as much as we can” said Tracy Kemp, the school principal.

Taylor has a tough road ahead of her but her family said she remains optimistic.

Her father lost his job on the same day as her accident, but his former employer set up a website where people can make donations.
