OAK GROVE, Mo. - An Oak Grove teen died on Friday after a head-on crash.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said they received a call about a head-on crash at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The crash was on Mecklin School Road north of Truman Road, just north of Oak Grove. Joseph Scott, 17, of Oak Grove died in the crash.
The other driver, a 46-year-old man from Buckner, said he was driving northbound on Mecklin School Road over a hill when he saw a red Pontiac Grand Am in his lane. He said he tried to avoid the crash, but was not able to avoid hitting the Grand Am.
The Buckner man was checked out at a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Scott died at the scene of the crash. Both men were believed to have been wearing seat belts.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office requested an accident reconstructionist from the Independence, Mo., Police Department to determine the cause of the crash.
