KANSAS CITY, Missouri - Kansas City will play host to President Barack Obama this Thursday.

He will take a tour of the Smith Electric Vehicles located at 9200 NW 112th St.

The company recently received a $32 million dollar Department of Energy grant toward production of all-electric commercial trucks.

Obama will tour the facilities and speak about the economy to the workers. He is scheduled to speak at 12:30 p.m.

White House officials say the President will also attend two fundraising events later on Thursday for Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan, who is a candidate to win the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate.

He will be in town July 8 to show his support for Carnahan, who is running against GOP nominee Roy Blunt to replace Senator Kit Bond (R–MO).

Details on the location of the fundraisers are expected to be released later this week.
