KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A letter containing a white, powdery substance was found at the IRS building in Kansas City Wednesday morning, prompting a response from emergency crews.
HazMat, the FBI and the federal protective service police responded to the substance alarm, which came in around 11 a.m. from the mail room.
The letter was packaged and forwarded to Jefferson City for tests. Authorities said there is not threat to public safety.
The scene was cleared around noon.
