OVERLAND PARK, Kansas - An AMBER Alert has now been issued in California for a missing Overland Park girl who police say was abducted by her stepfather.
Jordan McKenzie Stuart, 16, was last seen on June 3 around 10:30 p.m. with her stepfather, 39-year-old Patrick Neal Porter.
Authorities believe the stepfather fled Kansas with Jordan in an attempt to avoid prosecution. Porter has been charged with child porn and attempting to coerce a minor to have sex with him.
They are believed to be in the Orange County, California, area. A white 2003 Ford Expedition that was driven by Porter has been found in San Diego, according to Orange County sheriff's Sgt. Joe McClintock. Jordan and her stepfather, however, have not yet been found.
Jordan is described as 5 foot 5, 120 pounds, and has blue eyes and brown hair. She was last seen wearing a sweatshirt, shorts and flip flops.
Porter is described as 5 foot 8 and 210 pounds.
Police say they've been talking to the Porter family about domestic issues for some time. Thursday, Jordan, Patrick Porter and his wife met to discuss their problems. After the meeting, Jordan and her stepdad got in a car, parked in the Walmart lot at 158th and Metcalf, and drove off. No one has seen or heard from her since.
Tuesday, police called the Porter home to follow up on their family problems. It was then that Mrs. Porter revealed that her daughter and husband were missing.
Police believe the teen is in danger, "(her stepdad) is very manipulative, very influential and has a lot of control in general over her," said Officer Jim Weaver with the Overland Park Police Department.
If you know anything about either person's whereabouts, you are urged to call the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-TIPS or the Overland Park Kansas Police Department at (913) 895-6300.
