KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The time has finally come for the penguin exhibit at the Kansas City Zoo to be open.
The Helzberg Penguin Plaza will be open to the public for the first time on Friday, October 25 at 9:30 a.m.
The penguins arrived at the zoo in late September.
The penguins mark the first major use of money from the zoo tax passed in 2011 by Jackson and Clay County voters.
The Helzberg Penguin Plaza will be home to around a dozen Humboldt penguins and nearly 40 cold water penguins.
