KANSAS CIY, Missouri - A fire in downtown Kansas City knocked out power to over KCP&L customers.
Initial reports said it was a transformer fire, however subsequent information from KCP&L Kelly Hides said that it is actually a result of downed powerlines.
Around 6:00 Thursday morning people living near 16th & Summit heard an explosion and saw a large flash.
Skytracker was over the scene just minutes after the fire started. A large ball of fire, sparks and smoke could be seen coming from the area.
Power was restored to the customers around 8:45 a.m., according to Hides.
