CLEVELAND, Mo. - More than five years after a Kansas City family loses a son to bullying, they take strides toward helping other children.
Brandon Myers, 12, loved playing with his dog and catching frogs. The boy, born with a cleft palate, endured surgeries and a speech impediment. He also suffered bullying that pushed him past the brink. He took his own life in 2007.
The very first 'Buck the Bullies for Brandon' 5k race and event Sunday brought 60 people to try and stop bullying from taking the lives of even more children.
"Just be kind to each other," said Brandon's father, Randy. "If you see something, say something. If you see someone bullying somebody, stop it."
