KANSAS CITY, Missouri - A school bus carrying children from a Kansas City elementary school slid off the road Monday morning, hit a pole and then was struck by a fire truck.

The bus was carrying children from Warford Elementary School in the Hickman Mills School District and slid off the road around 9 a.m. near the intersection of Bales and Indiana.

School officials initially said no injuries were reported, but a school spokesman later said two of the 15 students on board the bus suffered very minor injuries in the wreck.

Kansas City Fire Chief Joe Vitale, who confirmed the minor injuries, said the truck that collided with the bus after it struck the pole was responding to the first accident, though the force of impact was not severe.

The school spokesman said one of the students was taken to an area hospital as a precaution and the other was taken home by their parents.
