"Slut Walk" advocates for sexual assault victims

KANSAS CITY, Missouri - Thousands of women are the victim of sexual assault every year. On Saturday, advocates demonstrated with a difference.
People marched in defense of a woman's right to dress however they want. Organizers called it the "slut walk". It started in Canada when a police officer told a college class women should "not dress like sluts" if they don't want to be raped. .
"One of the great things about the "slut walk" is its pointing out the obscenity of blaming victims of crime for their own victimization. You know, we don't do that with victims of a home invasion or a car break-in. We don't blame them and say 'well you shouldn't drive such a nice car,'" Angie Blumel with MOCA said.
The rally ended with a workshop on stopping sexual violence --- and a call for law enforcement to not blame victims after sexual assaults.
