ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - A St. Joseph man has been charged in the death of a woman found in a wooden box in northern Platte Co.
Buchanan Co. prosecutors charged Martin Lee Williams, 51, with involuntary manslaughter and abandonment of a body in the death of Tangela A. Fisher, 35, of St. Joseph.
Fisher’s body was found on September 8, at E. Dye Store Road and State Route M in a homemade wooden box.
Charging documents state Williams had Fisher over at a St. Joseph residence, where he prepared a syringe containing a controlled substance. After Fisher was injected, she became unconscious and stopped breathing.
Williams did not call emergency services to get help.
A probable cause statement says Williams has an extensive criminal history and was on parole at the time of Fisher’s death.
