KANSAS CITY, Mo. - - A Sugar Creek, Mo. priest suspended last week after a concern was brought against him was reinstated to his church Saturday.
Bishop Robert Finn of the Kansas City and St. Joseph Catholic Diocese said in a release Sunday he had reinstated Rev. Matthew Bartulica at St. Cyril Parish.
An investigation into the concern against Bartulica, which wasn’t publicly disclosed, was conducted by an ombudsman overseeing the Independent Review Board.
The board placed Bartulica on administrative leave during its investigation. The board completed its investigation and recommended Bartulica return to service.
"The course of action that the Independent Review Board, the Ombudsman and I took in placing Father Bartulica on leave was a prudent step that allowed our diocese to follow its policies and procedures for clerical conduct," said Bishop Finn in the release.
