Saturday morning the US Navy will commission the newest submarine.

It’s the forth Navy ship to be named after the Show-Me State.

Officials will commission the USS Missouri at a ceremony in Connecticut.

The Missouri is powered by a nuclear reactor that will not need refueling for the life of the ship.

It is also equipped with sonar so sensitive it can pick up tiny fish miles away.

The last USS Missouri was a battleship best remembered as the site where U.S. officials accepted the surrender of Japan at the end of World War II.

A live broadcast of the commissioning takes place at 9:30 a.m. in the KC live area of the Power and Light District.
