KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Veronica Iverson was upstairs in her house Monday evening when she heard her daughter yell.
“When she hollered I thought she was hollering at someone else. Then I heard 'boom.' She hollered. 'Boom.' It shook this whole house, it was rumbling,” she said.
Iverson said she ran downstairs and found her daughter in hysterics and her two grandchildren shot. They were the victims of a drive by shooting. Seven-year-old Dy’Oveon Lora and 2-year-old Deanphony Anderson are in the hospital recovering.
Delores Wilson is the boys’ aunt. She lost her 25-year-old daughter to gunfire in 2008.
“I am just upset about everything. I have a lot of anger in me because of that. Now they are to the point where, it is kids and it is just sickening,” Wilson said.
Both children are expected to survive. On Tuesday, family members began cleaning up shattered glass from broken windows. They said the emotional wounds left behind are deep.
