KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A non-profit organization wants to stress the importance of locally grown produce over industrially produced food.
Cultivate Kansas City held an event to promote its fifth bi-annual Urban Grown Farms & Gardens tour at the Central Library downtown. Speakers showcased healthy foods and raised awareness of urban agriculture.
Cultivate KC members believe now is the perfect time to serve up some fresh food.
"People miss it,” said Executive Director and co-founder Katherine Kelly. “They're hungry for real food. They're hungry for the human connection, the love, the relationship that comes from growing food, and so I think the time is just right for it."
The farms and gardens tour takes place this Saturday and Sunday at various locations around town. For details, including ticket prices and a map of locations, visit Cultivate KC's website, here .
