KANSAS CITY, Missouri - The Urban Rangers of Kansas City program is back for a sixth year- and is growing so fast that 118 kids applied for 36 openings this summer.
The program is designed to give at-risk kids a chance to learn discipline and jobs skills. This summer they'll paint fences, rehab homes, and maintain trails - and get paid for doing it. The staff enforces strict discipline with some help from a Marine Drill Instructor.
Father John Wandless, a retired Catholic priest who founded The Urban Rangers, would like to raise enough money so he won't have to turn anyone away next year. To learn more about the Urban Rangers, visit their website.
