DURBAN, South Africa - Imagine the story one South African mountain bike racer will have to tell, knocked over by a wild antelope.
The only problem is, it's hard to tell a story when you don't remember what happened.
"As the buck hit me, I was knocked unconcsious," explained 17-year-old Evan van der Spuy. "So I actually don't know much of the actual experience myself."
The video was shot by a camera attached to his teammate's bike, behind him as he sped down the trail.
Evan says the whole thing was a shock to him, and it still is a shock every time he rewatches the video.
Though Evan managed to stand up after the crash, he doesn't remember anything until he was in an ambulance headed for an overnight stay in the hospital.
He suffered whiplash and a concussion.
Meanwhile the buck was later spotted grazing as if nothing had happened.
Evan says his helmet, which was almost split apart by the impact, saved his life. Now he jokingly expects the helmet-maker to make a commercial featuring his video.
A man was found dead outside a home on the 2500 block of Quincy Avenue late Friday evening, according to a KCMO police spokesman.
