PASCO COUNTY (WFTS) - A man who was spotted running around naked in Tarpon Springs, Fla., in the early morning hours was arrested after assaulting a store employee and crashing head on into a deputy’s vehicle Tuesday.
Pasco County officials received reports of the suspect running around a Tarpon Springs golf course naked. Deputies caught up with the suspect after he allegedly went into a 7-11 and assaulted one of the employees on U.S. 19 and Flora just before 4:30 a.m.
The suspect then got into his GMC Savana van and headed north bound in the south bound lane of U.S. 19.
Deputies began pursuing the suspect while other units blocked roads to prevent any accidents to commuters.
The suspect’s vehicle sideswiped a deputy's patrol car in the pursuit.
Deputies were eventually able to stop the vehicle around U.S. 19 and Moog.
The naked suspect then fled the vehicle for a short time and was apprehended by deputies.
The investigation is ongoing but the suspect is expected to face several charges including battery and aggravated fleeing to elude.
There were no injuries reported to the deputy involved in the crash. It is not yet clear why the suspect was naked, but he is now dressed in a jail suit.
