DES MOINES, Iowa - An Iowa man is nearing the end of his pledge to live Lent on beer alone.
“I want to educate beer people about God and I want to educate God people about beer,” J. Wilson said about his efforts to drink only beer for lent.
For the season of lent, J. Wilson lived on a liquid diet of beet and water. Wilson has been drinking five beers a day since Ash Wednesday and his quest ends of Easter. If you thought the diet would give him a beer belly, think again.
“I've lost 22 and a half pounds, I think, as of today,” Wilson said.
From 160 down to 137 and a half, most came off the first week. Wilson says the diet has actually helped his energy, but it hasn’t helped him get sleep.
“I'm tired because I go to the bathroom four times at night. 12 o'clock, two o'clock, four o'clock, six o 'clock. So I don't get a whole lot of rest,” he explains.
At the end of the diet, Wilson says he’ll enjoy a cheeseburger and a bacon smoothie,
