HARRISONVILLE, Mo. - A 33-year-old Lee’s Summit woman died late Friday night along Missouri Highway 71 near Harrisonville when she stepped out of her vehicle and was struck three times by passing cars.
According to a Missouri Highway Patrol report, Joy P. Johnson was involved in a minor traffic accident just before midnight Friday and pulled over to the side of the highway.
As she got out of her car and stood in the left lane of the roadway, she was struck by three different passing vehicles in quick succession. The first car knocked her down, and the other two ran over her body. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of each of the three vehicles that struck Johnson stopped nearby, and no one has been arrested or charged with a crime, according to the Highway Patrol.
In addition to the patrol, the crash was investigated by the Cass County Sheriff’s Department and the Harrisonville Police.
