LONGMONT, Colo. (KMGH) - Several people are dead in a murder-suicide in Weld County.

According to Jeff Satur, spokesman for the Longmont Police Department, the incident happened at the Longview Estates near Weld County Road 3 1/2 and Highway 119. It is just east of Longmont, in an unincorporated part of the county.

Satur said at least four people are dead.

The Weld County Sheriff's Department said it appears that three adult victims were murdered by another adult who then committed suicide. The suspected weapon is a handgun.

"I heard shots at 4:13 this morning. Woke me up and my wife," said neighbor George Vibbert, who also said deputies asked him and his wife to back away from their windows.

"I heard three [shots] then screaming after that," said Joyce Vibbert.

Based on a recording of radio chatter provided by RadioReference.com, it appears the shooter was in contact with the Weld County Sheriff's Office before taking his own life.

"Weld County advising that they have an open line into the residence. They had a caller advise that he had shot multiple people inside the house, family members and a light," a Longmont dispatcher radioed at approximately 4:22 a.m.

A press conference is scheduled for approximately 8:30 a.m.
