A ticket sold in Virginia has won the largest Powerball prize since a Missouri family claimed their share of a nearly-$600-million jackpot last November.
Wednesday’s drawing was worth an estimated $217.2 million. The winning numbers were 05-27-36-38-41, Powerball: 12.
Six other tickets won prizes of $1 million or more. One Power Play ticket sold in Rhode Island hit the first five numbers and not the Powerball, brining home $2 million. One ticket each sold in Arizona, Connecticut, Illinois, Kentucky and New York hit the first five numbers on a regular play, worth $1 million.
The largest prize in Wednesday’s drawing in Kansas or Missouri was a ticket sold in Missouri that hit four of the first five numbers, plus the Powerball, which is worth $10,000.
Mark and Cindi Hill, of Dearborn, Mo., hit the jackpot on the Nov. 28 drawing. They shared the largest-ever Powerball jackpot of $587.5 million with a woman in Arizona.
Powerball is played in 42 states, Washington D.C. and in the Virgin Islands.
