Pay, education, flexibilty? What makes up the best jobs for women?

CINCINNATI - Finding a good job is never easy, especially for women. We want a job, a career that allows us flexibility, makes us happy and pays the bills.      

Mimi Hart, owner of Hart Pharmacy in Price Hill, says she loves her job. Her chosen profession turned out to be a good choice. A pharmacist is one of the top paying jobs for women according to Forbes magazine and the department of labor. 

"For part-time work, if you want to raise a family, you can usually work hours, you can work in a hospital you can work in a mail order. We now have jobs where you can work out of your home in your slippers," said Hart.

Pharmacists earn a median income of $99,000 a year.

"Even if you're only working 10 or 15 hours your salary would be the equivalent of a full time job that you would do in other professions," explained Hart.

The other top paying jobs for women according to Forbes include: lawyers, computer and IT managers, physician and surgeons and chief executives. Pay checks for those positions range from $76,000-$85,000 a year.

But, let's be realistic: these jobs take time in the classroom, a long term commitment  and  they just aren't for everyone.

Career and leadership coach Lisa Kappesser has advice for those looking for a new job or career: take some small steps.

Kappesser says most of her women clients are looking for flexibility, especially if they have a family.

"Women are looking for flexibility in their job definitely. I think they want to spend time with their family and also want a career in which they can excel in and feel good about," said Kappesser.

As for Forbe's list of best paying jobs that don't require a bachelor's degree, topping the list is a registered nurse, at a median income of $65,0000 per year, followed by dental hygienists and radiological technologists.
