KANSAS CITY, MO - A day after her opponent in the November general election was decided in the Missouri primary, Sen. Claire McCaskill made a stop in Kansas City to kick off her campaign for re-election.
She stopped by Standard Sheet Metal, Inc. She talked about providing tax breaks to small businesses and the middle class.
Wednesday, McCaskill's campaign launched a website, TruthAboutAkin.com , to highlight what she says is "evidence" her opponent Todd Akin is too conservative for Missourians.
"I think a lot of these negative ads are full of lies and distortions,” she said. “We're going to try to be very old fashioned about this. I'm going to run this campaign like I used to run my cases back in Jackson County, just the evidence folks, just the evidence.”
Akin and McCaskill don't agree on much, including health care, Medicare and student loans.
In fact, McCaskill says they have two different visions for the country.
During Wednesday's news conference, she worked to highlight the difference between her and her opponent.
McCaskill is seeking a second six-year term in the Senate. Prior to that, she spent time as state auditor, a state lawmaker and a county prosecutor.
