ATCHISON, Kan. - Several Kansas teenagers were injured Thursday when a pickup with five of them in the bed rolled over at an Atchison park.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reports the 18-year-old driver was driving northbound in Jackson Park when he lost control of his 2000 Ford F150 around a curve and rolled over.
The driver and all five of the teen boys in the bed of the truck were ejected.
Four of those riding in the back were hospitalized, one of them with serious injuries. The driver, who according to a Patrol crash report was not wearing a safety belt, was also hospitalized.
Among the injured were the 18-year-old driver, an 18-year-old, two 17-year-olds and a 16-year-old from the bed of the truck. All were male and all were from Atchison.
The four teens with less severe injuries were taken to an Atchison hospital. One of the 17-year-old boys in the back was taken to KU Med in Kansas City, Kan., according to the Patrol crash report.
