Two Johnson County officials are taking their campaign to get out and see Kansas personally.
Overland Park Convention and Visitors Bureau President Jerry Cook and Johnson County Commissioner and former Chiefs player Dave Lindstrom have decided to walk across Kansas.
They wll break up the trek into 13 different walks along Kansas byways -- leading up to walking the Santa Fe Trail in May.
So why do it?
"We originally started out just to see if we could do it,” Cook said. “But what it's emerged into now is we really want to promote the 11 byways of Kansas.”
Cook said he also wanted to push the positive effects on wellness and happiness walking can have with the growing obesity rates in Kansas and in the country.
The pair is blogging about their experiences at http://walkingwithlandc.com/
