OLATHE, Kan. - The Johnson County Christmas Bureau had been waiting to confirm the location of its annual Holiday Shop. Now, the wait is over.
The non-profit organization that serves the needs of low-income families in Johnson County, Kan., confirmed on Friday the Holiday Shop will take place at the Great Mall of the Great Plains for the third straight year. The shop is open to pre-qualified residents of Johnson County by appointment. It runs from Nov. 30 to Dec. 8.
The items made available at the Holiday Shop include groceries, personal care items, children’s clothing, adult and teen gifts, toys, hats, gloves, scarves, books and coats. The JCCB helps more than 12,500 qualified clients -- including 3,400 families -- to shop by appointment and choose food and gifts for the holiday season.
The Johnson County Christmas Bureau needs 3,000 volunteers to run the Holiday Shop. Volunteers can start signing up online on Monday by going to www.jccb.org.
Saturday night is the organization’s major fundraiser, Holiday of Hope. 41 Action News' Justin Unell will serve as emcee.
