SHAWNEE, Kan. - The city of Shawnee, Kan., has started a new program to encourage neighbors and community members to help keep the city looking its best.
The Adopt-A-Spot program connects groups of volunteers with areas of the city that could use a little sprucing up.
Groups can select what area they want to clean up or let the city pick one for them. They can pick a park, stream, trail or section of a street within the Shawnee city limits.
Each groups must commit to four clean ups each year.
