PARKER, Kan. - A Johnson County woman died Monday afternoon when a 13-year-old driver lost control of a sport utility vehicle and rolled into a ditch, injuring herself and two other teenagers, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The Patrol reports Brenda Jo Clouse, 42, of Shawnee, Kan., was a passenger in a 1999 Ford Explorer headed northbound on 1077 Road in Linn County, Kan., just north of Parker, which is a little over 60 miles southeast of Kansas City.

The driver, 13-year-old Kaitlin G. Clouse of Parker, over-corrected when she drove off the right side of the road, according to a Patrol crash report. The vehicle rolled several times into a ditch on the left side of the road.

Emergency crews pronounced Brenda Clouse dead at the scene. She was not wearing a seat belt, according to the Patrol report.

Kaitlin and 16-year-old Connor Clouse, of Paola, were taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center with unspecified injuries.

A third teenager, 15 year-old Shaylyn Holcomb, also of Paoloa, was taken to Miami County Hospital. An update on her condition was not available.

Kaitlin and Shayline were wearing seat belts, according to the report. Connor was not.

The Kansas Highway Patrol has not released information about the relationship between those involved in the crash.
