JOHNSON COUNTY, Kansas - It is not exactly an entire home makeover.
However, volunteers in Johnson County are helping improve the homes of some older adults.
Sunday they kicked off the annual Extreme Yard Rakeover.
The Shepard Center of Kansas City Central and the Jewish Family Services created the program four years ago.
Every year, volunteers rake up the leaves and help improve the homeowners front and back yards.
Organizers say the program allows the older adults to keep their independence while getting the help they need.
JoEllen Worth of the Shepard Center of Kansas City Central said, "Older adults in the community who aren't able to do it on their own, don't have family around to help, they find its perfect for volunteer groups.
This year, more than 750 volunteers have signed up.
The Extreme Yard Rakeover will wrap up in two weeks.
