KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Three lanes of Interstate 670 at I-70 will close for a couple hours Thursday so crews can remove the catwalks graffiti artists use to deface highway signs.
The catwalks were originally installed to make it easy for Kansas Department of Transportation crews to change signs -- but they've ended up helping vandals, too.
Crews are scheduled to start removing the catwalks from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday, so the lanes will be closed for at least a couple hours.
KDOT officials are still trying to figure out the best way to remove the actual graffiti without damaging the reflective property of the signs.
